The Postmaster- General, Nigerian Postal Service, NIPOST, Ibrahim Baba, said the collaboration between NIPOST and the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, on cashless policy was undergoing evaluation.
Mr. Baba said on Tuesday in Abuja that the essence of the collaboration was to support the CBN in the execution of the cashless policy. He stated that for the collaboration to take-off effectively there was the need to ensure that certain modalities were put in place, adding that the collaboration was at the process of evaluation.
“The Ministry of Science and Technology and CBN have decided to ensure that competent consultant looks into the capability and capacity of post offices of NIPOST to deliver services to CBN,” he said.
Under the partnership, NIPOST will roll out new services such as cash transfer as well as Warehouse Point of Sale Terminals, especially in rural communities.
Mr. Baba had sometime said that the era of information technology had brought enormous competition to bear on NIPOST’s mandate and operations.

“We therefore need to redouble our efforts to create an efficient and profit-oriented postal service that will guarantee customer satisfaction and improved revenue generation,” he said.
He also said that NIPOST would sensitise its staff on the use of e-transact to enhance the CBN policy on cash-based transactions.
