Do Beauty Pageants have economic implications? Reigning Miss UNIBEN wins Miss Heritage Beauty Pageant Contest

The reigning Miss UNIBEN, Miss Obehi Lilian has emerged the winner of the 2012 edition of the Miss Heritage Beauty Pageant. Miss Obehi Lilian just graduated from the department of Economics and Statistics, University of Benin and is awaiting her youth service. She represented Edo State at the 2011 edition of the Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria (MBGN) pageant organised by the Silverbird group. She is still the reigning Miss UNIBEN.

The pageant which was organised by the Caires Grooming Agency was aimed at showcasing the whole World the rich cultural heritage that abounds in Nigeria and to groom young women who would be great Ambassadors for the Country. Here are some of the pictures captured at the event.

i. It is an economic activity and adds to national productivity
ii. It creates value which is captured in the GNP
iii. It is a source of leisure which forms part of the unmeasured aspect of national welfare.
